Community Projects
The Pima County Bar Association supports the following community endeavors:
Arizona Equal Justice Campaign
Lawyers for Literacy
Since 1991, the Pima County Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Division has sponsored the
Lawyers for Literacy ("LFL") program at local elementary schools. LFL volunteer tutors regularly meet
individually with 4th and 5th grade students who read below grade level and provide valuable assistance.
Please see above LFL link for information on how to participate.
Legal Community Against Hunger (LCAH)
Every year, during the holidays, lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants and others in the legal community
join together as the Legal Community Against Hunger (LCAH) to support the important, vital work of the
Tucson Community Food Bank. Since 1988, LCAH has helped the Food Bank relieve hunger in Tucson
neighborhoods by raising over $300,000 to assist with their efforts.
Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP)
Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Holiday Party
Every year, the Young Lawyers Divisions (“YLD”) of the Pima County Bar Association and the State Bar of
Arizona join forces to support St. Nicholas of Myra Adoption Center, a local non-profit (and program of
Catholic Community Services) that cares for children in foster and group homes who have been victims of
abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. YLD helps by throwing a Holiday Party for the children who may not
otherwise get to celebrate, providing them with one special day when they can leave behind their worries
and just be a kid. Both cash and in-kind donations, along with various prizes, are collected from
individuals and local businesses, allowing for children's gifts, food, and lots of fun during the celebration
(see above YLD Holiday Party link for more details).
